Jacqueline Rutter, 53, was shot in the chest on her doorstep in Moreton, at about 1am on October 30 2022. Byrne, Allen and Harrison were found guilty after a trial of murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and arson. Reading a statement to the court, Jemma Rixon, the partner of Ms Rutter’s son Steven, described Byrne as a “pathetic coward”. The court was told Ms Rutter, a mother of six and grandmother of five, was a life-long drug addict. The judge said he was satisfied Allen, Harrison and Glynn became involved in the killing because of their drug addictions, but not because they were exploited by Byrne.
