The council has put out an appeal to the public to help find the persons responsible for what it is describing as a ‘significant fly-tip’. Taking to the social media platform Facebook, the council said: “Do you recognise any of this fly-tipped waste? Readers can contact the council regarding this issue by emailing it at locality@westmorlandandfurness.gov.uk and quoting the reference 4861542. This comes after the council announced it will introduce Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) at several new high-profile sites in the authority. PSPOs help the council and the police to issue fines of up to £100 for anti-social behaviour, like fly-tipping.
