Niagara Falls State Park, the oldest state park in the U.S., is quietly expanding—absorbing two neighboring state parks and adding new connecting trails and signage. With the change, Niagara Falls State Park will incorporate Whirlpool State Park and Devil’s Hole State Park to the north. The new Niagara Falls State Park will stretch continuously from the Niagara Scenic Parkway in the south to the Niagara Power Vista Visitor’s Center in the north. According to the Niagara Gazette, 9.5 million people visited Niagara Falls State Park in 2024, while Whirlpool State Park welcomed just 453,643 that year and Devil’s Hole saw 357,807 visitors. The expansion will also make it easier to incorporate sights like the Aquarium of Niagara, Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center, and the Niagara Power Vista into a Falls visit.
