The match was followed by a light-hearted but highly successful charity auction at Peebles Rugby Club, where a single turnip took centre stage. The turnip, donated by Adam Smellie of Hatteknowe Farm, Eddleston, was auctioned by Andrew Barrie and quickly became the focus of spirited bidding. In the end, the humble root vegetable was snapped up by James Russell of Drumcross, Bathgate, for an impressive £450. All proceeds from the auction were donated to the SAYFC Are Ewe OK? campaign, supporting mental health awareness within the young farming community.
