MITCHELL — Dakota Wesleyan University wrestler Olivia Smith has made history as the first Great Plains Athletic Conference women's wrestler of the week in program history, the league announced on Wednesday, Jan. 28.
Smith, a junior from Jasper, Wyoming, picked up a pair of wins in a triangular on Jan. 20 against opponents from Buena Vista and Morningside.
Smith is the first DWU wrestler to win a GPAC women's wrestler of the week honor, and the conference is in its second season of issuing the awards.
ADVERTISEMENTThe DWU program is in its third full season and Smith was the program's first recruit.
DWU competes in a dual at Waldorf on Jan. 29, followed by a trip to the Warrior Open at Midland University on Jan. 31.
