Residents in Dorset are being warned to prepare for possible groundwater flooding as levels across the region remain exceptionally high. The Environment Agency, South and South West said groundwater levels are currently as high as, and in some locations higher than, those seen during the severe flooding of 2013 and 2014. At the time of writing, 30 of the area’s 35 groundwater flood warnings are in force, with some communities experiencing groundwater impacts for the first time. The Environment Agency is urging people to take action now to protect their homes and businesses. People are also encouraged to sign up for groundwater flood warnings to receive the latest updates.
