From its beginnings in 2004 near Silloth, Solfest grew into an August bank holiday staple, drawing up to around 10,000 people a year and attracting a string of high-profile acts to the Solway coast. Over more than two decades, Solfest’s line-ups regularly punched above its size, luring chart-toppers, cult favourites and festival veterans to north Cumbria. Chumbawamba – 2007The Leeds collective, best known for 1997 global hit “Tubthumping”, headlined in 2007, giving the festival a politically-charged, singalong-friendly set built on their mix of punk, pop and folk. Newton Faulkner – 2017Acoustic guitarist and singer Newton Faulkner headlined Solfest’s return in 2017, known for his percussive guitar style and tracks such as “Dream Catch Me”.
