Bridgwater MP Sir Ashley Fox has called for a parliamentary debate following serious flooding in Somerset, raising concerns about the effectiveness of current response systems as water levels rise. In Parliament, he thanked Environment Agency staff, drainage boards and council workers for their efforts. Mr Fox said: "Flooding in recent days has shown just how exposed many Somerset communities remain. A major incident was declared by Somerset Council, with warnings that more homes are likely to flood. Ashley Fox has asked for a parliamentary debate to allow these concerns to be examined in detail.
