The group reportedly broke into the car park at Newport Sarcens Rugby Club on Tuesday, January 27 at around 3.30pm. Despite the rugby club contacting Newport City Council, the travellers cannot be moved from the area before a welfare assessment and legal proceedings take place. “We have physical activities that we currently cannot provide for eighty to ninety kids while the travellers are in the car park. It is a nightmare.”The club is also afraid it will cost over two and a half thousand pounds to clean up the car park once the travellers leave. “We have worked closely with Gwent Police and Newport City Council to resolve the matter.
