Officers were on patrol when they saw a car being driven in a suspicious manner on the mountain road between Rhymney and Tredegar. “On approaching the car, officers reported finding a large disc cutter in the back seat as well as toolboxes in the boot. “Officers carried out CCTV and house-to-house checks in the area, before seeing two men approaching the vehicle shortly after.”After seeing a marked police car in the area and officers approaching, the men attempted to flee - but the officers swiftly pursued and detained them. The spokesperson for Gwent Police added: “They arrested a 23-year-old man from Cefn Fforest and an 18-year-old man from Abertillery on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, handling stolen goods, driving a motor vehicle otherwise in accordance with a licence, using a motor vehicle on a road without insurance and failing to stop. “The 18-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of resisting a constable in execution of duty.
