Thanks to local support, the pub was awarded Grade II listed status and achieved asset of community value (ACV) designation. In May 2024, Lewisham Council received a planning application for the Baring Hall Hotel, outlining proposals to restore the historic pub while converting its first and second floors into 10 letting rooms. As a Grade II listed building, all works must comply with listed buildings and conservation areas legislation. The Grade II listed building was constructed in the early 1880s and designed by architect Ernest Newton. Cllr James-J Walsh, Lewisham Council’s cabinet member for inclusive regeneration and planning, said:“We granted planning permission and listed building consent in November 2024 for the refurbishment of Baring Hall Hotel.
