A new study has revealed the soaring cost of private outdoor space across London’s boroughs, with Croydon emerging as the most affordable place in the city for house hunters seeking a garden. The average home in Croydon costs £408,013 and comes with 257.9 square metres of private outdoor space. With the largest average garden in London at 331.1 square metres and an average house price of £534,443, Bromley is also one of the most spacious. All 33 London boroughs rank within the UK’s top 50 highest cost of private outdoor space. White Stores said it used the most recent house price data from the Land Registry, published on January 21, 2026.
