The arrests took place on Brentgovel Street during a joint operation involving Suffolk Police and Home Office Immigration Enforcement in Bury St Edmunds on Thursday, January 20. The operation targeted cash-intensive businesses, including barber shops, nail bars, car washes, fast food outlets, sweet shops and convenience stores, as part of efforts to identify and safeguard potential victims of modern slavery. The two people arrested were taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning and have since been released on bail until March 9.
