The first was to consider how government financial schemes could be made accessible, open and flexible to tenant farmers. Around a third of farmed land in England is tenanted, placing tenant farmers at the heart of the nation’s food production and environmental delivery. The primary role of the Farm Tenancy Forum is to work with Government to ensure a thriving and collaborative tenant farming sector. The Agricultural Landlord and Tenant Code of Practice came into play during the spring of 2024. I am really pleased to see the commissioner getting out and about to meet grassroots tenant farmers, hearing directly from them and giving people the confidence that change is possible.
