AVON LAKE, Ohio -- Avon Lake City Schools voters will be asked this spring to renew a 1.5-mill permanent improvement levy, a measure district officials say would maintain existing funding for facilities and infrastructure without increasing taxes. At its Jan. 20 meeting, the Avon Lake Board of Education unanimously approved the final resolution, placing the levy renewal on the May 5 ballot. The funds are restricted to permanent improvements and cannot be used for day-to-day operating expenses or employee salaries. Remaining funds support maintenance projects such as roof repairs, parking lot upkeep, and campus improvements at facilities including Avon Lake High School and district athletic stadiums. If approved by voters, the levy would continue funding permanent improvement projects for another five years.
