The recall covers AiTuiTui Pull String Teething Toys sold online through Amazon, which were found to violate mandatory federal toy safety standards. Officials said the silicone strings attached to the toys are smaller than standards allowed and can reach the back of a child’s throat, where they may become lodged and obstruct breathing. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the agency has received reports of 15 choking incidents involving the recalled toys, as well as two additional cases in which children were able to bite pieces off the silicone strings. Consumers are being instructed to stop using the teething toy immediately and contact the seller, Vanfun, to receive a full refund.
