Highland Rugby Club have applied for funding to be able to build stands at the side of their Canal Park pitch. The Inverness-based rugby club were granted planning permission for the project in October 2024, and have since pursued funding to make building works possible. Highland RFC are looking to become the first rugby club in the Highlands and Islands to install covered seating around their pitch. Each stand will hold 50 fans, with the rugby club seeking £34,050 from the Community Regeneration Fund to make them a reality. “The provision of covered seating will drive up demand for regional and national events as the provision of covered seating is a prerequisite for sporting authorities including the Scottish Rugby Union.
