MINOT – After 47 years, Minot’s Norsk Høstfest will not be coming back for another celebration this year, though the local economic development corporation plans to continue some business relationships created through the event.
The Norsk Høstfest Association announced on Thursday the end of the Scandinavian heritage festival, saying the decision was made because of rising operation costs and declining attendance.
The event was also the largest Scandinavian heritage festival in North America.
ADVERTISEMENTThe Norsk Høstfest Association recognized the volunteers, staff members, performers, donors, vendors, sponsors and other supporters and community members who have dedicated their time to putting on and supporting the festival over the years.
It also credited Minot’s Scandinavian Heritage Association, which maintains the Scandinavian Heritage Park in town, as another steward of Scandinavian heritage and education and encouraged community members and volunteers to get involved with the SHA.
