The Nursing and Midwifery Council said concerns were raised about Joyce Hoare on October 30, 2023, when it received a referral questioning her fitness to practise. Ms Hoare was a registered learning disabilities nurse and was based in County Durham. On September 9, 2025, Ms Hoare applied to be removed from the nursing register through the NMC’s agreed removal process. The Assistant Registrar said they were satisfied that “Joyce Hoare no longer intends to work as a registered nurse” and that “the allegations against Joyce Hoare aren’t likely to result in a striking-off order”. The report also warns that “in the event that Joyce Hoare seeks readmission to the register, we may consider the matters that led to this agreed removal further”.
