President Donald Trump on Wednesday issued a warning to Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey over his opposition to federal immigration operations in the Twin Cities. Federal officers involved in immigration enforcement have shot and killed two people, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, during targeted operations in Minneapolis this month. “I shared with Mr. Homan the serious negative impacts this operation has had on Minneapolis and surrounding communities, as well as the strain it has placed on our local police officers,” Frey posted on X. “I also made it clear that Minneapolis does not and will not enforce federal immigration laws, and that we will remain focused on keeping our neighbors and streets safe,” he added. Homan’s arrival in the Twin Cities this week came amid growing bipartisan demands for an independent investigation into immigration enforcement tactics.
