STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.— Fresh off its win against public and private Island competition earlier this month, the Susan Wagner girls’ track and field team delivered another commanding performance, capturing the PSAL Borough Championship by a massive margin on Wednesday at Ocean Breeze.
The MSIT boys, however, prevented Wagner from completing a double sweep, narrowly edging out the Island-champ Falcons, 204–189, and allowing the Seagulls to lay claim to both the Island XC and PSAL Borough indoor titles.
Girls’ RecapThe Falcons claimed first place by a whopping 77.5 points at Islands and followed it up with another dominant showing on Thursday, racking up 196 points—well ahead of runner-up Curtis (110) and bronze medalist Tottenville (75).
The girls executed the plan and I think we’re in good shape for Cities now,” Susan Wagner head coach John Padula said.
All of the Island’s PSAL schools will aim to build momentum in training ahead of the City Championship, scheduled for Feb. 21 at The Armory in Washington Heights.
