Chief Schaeffer said the building mirrored the evolution of Edgartown, as population grew and statutory requirements advanced. The full demolition of the station will start on Feb. 4 and construction is scheduled to end in spring 2027, Chief Schaeffer said. At the ceremony, town administrator James Hagerty reflected on the December meeting when town voters approved the station funds with no discussion.
