The operation started on Wednesday when The Salvation Army prepared operations for its services Thursday, bringing in four mobile feeding units, along with a 15-person staff and food provided by Southern Baptist Disaster Relief.
Organizers say the goal is to provide food to those who have been struggling through the weather conditions.
“People have been without power and now they’re losing water as well,” said Maj. Mark Hunter, area commander for the Louisville Salvation Army.
And we’re also providing bottled water, so that helps them hydrate.”The Salvation Army will be providing food from each location until further notice.
