The forthcoming album was primarily produced by Greg Kurstin, known for his work with Adele, Paul McCartney, Beyoncé and more. The project will also feature production from longtime musical colleagues, Flying Lotus, Kenneth Blume (FKA Kenny Beats) and The Lemon Twigs. Today, Thundercat also shared the first single from the project, “I Did This To Myself (featuring Lil Yachty).” The song features a frenetic bassline from Thundercat and lyrics that reflect the awkwardness of online dating. The song’s themes reflect the focus of the entire album, which, per its title, explores the often distracting nature of technology and social media. Lil Yachty's verse also explore similar themes, harping on the frustrating realities of contemporary digital romance ("Takin' those pics in a bra shouldn't jam your schedule / We made plans twice and it's unsuccessful").
