(ABC 6 News) — Lawmakers at the Iowa Capitol are considering legislation that would require all police officers to cooperate and work with immigration enforcement. The two bills, House File 2041 and corresponding Senate File 2097, state that officers would be required to cooperate with all Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations as well as any other immigration enforcement. The bills would also require any law enforcement agency that has custody of a person subject to an immigration detainer request to fully comply with any instruction made in that detainer request.
