The League of Women Voters of Park Rapids Area (LWV) held a virtual presentation on Wednesday, Jan. 28 about the upcoming Republican and Democratic-Farmer Labor party caucuses. The purpose of the program, according to LWV President Carolynne White, was to educate voters on how important caucuses are to the political process. “Precinct caucuses are local meetings of political parties,” White explained. In 2018, for example, only 34,329 Minnesotans attended a DFL precinct caucus. Per state law, Republican and DFL party caucuses are scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3 at various locations in Hubbard County, based on voting precincts.
