The AirPods Max, dubbed the best noise-canceling headphones for iPhone users by our editors, are the headphones you get if you want to adorn your head with the trendiest over-ear cans. In New York, I spot the AirPods Max more than anything else. Speaking as someone who has tested the AirPods Max, as expected ('cause it's Apple), the headphones sound absolutely divine, with rich, cinematic, and immersive audio quality. Similar to the Sony XM6s, the AirPods Max knock out low-frequency noise with top-of-the-line ANC—but the AirPods have a slight edge with a transparency mode that sounds remarkably natural. On the note of the controversial AirPods Max case, this is an unpopular opinion, but I've grown to love it.
