A Minnesota man has been arrested after he reportedly tried to break Luigi Mangione out of jail in Brooklyn, New York Thursday.
Sources tell ABC News that Mark Anderson, 36, of Minnesota has been charged with impersonating a federal agent.
Anderson allegedly traveled from Minnesota to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, claiming to be an FBI agent with a court order to release Mangione.
After claiming he was an FBI agent, Anderson reportedly claimed to have paperwork “signed by a judge” authorizing the release of a specific inmate.
While the criminal complaint does not state the inmate’s identity, ABC News reported that law enforcement sources said the prisoner was Mangione.
