Richard Dreyfuss refused to ever work for Universal Pictures ever again after making Jaws because the studio never paid him or his co-stars any bonuses, despite the movie banking millions at the box office. Appearing on The Daily Jaws podcast, Dreyfuss said: "I didn't feel anything about not getting an Oscar nomination. "Somebody from the studio called me to say, 'We're going to do the sequel, do you want to do it?' Dreyfuss believes the three sequels - Jaws 2, released in 1978, 1983's Jaws 3-D and Jaws: The Revenge, which came out in 1987 - were all pale imitations of Spielberg's original because Universal merely wanted to try and re-create what they achieved with the first film, with diminishing results. Richard - who reunited with Spielberg on Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Always - said: "Jaws is a commercial product, so the studio of course wanted to make sequels.
