Spread the wordThe Federal Government has approved the construction of a ₦1 trillion Kano Metropolitan Rail Service, a major infrastructure project aimed at improving urban transportation and boosting economic activities in the state.
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, disclosed the approval on Wednesday while addressing members of the Kano contingent to the 2025 National Qur’anic Recitation Competition held in Borno State.
According to Yusuf, the rail project will provide a modern, efficient and affordable mass transit system linking key districts within the Kano metropolis, reducing traffic congestion and enhancing mobility for residents.
He described the Kano Metropolitan Rail Service as a landmark initiative that would improve the quality of life of residents and reposition Kano as a major transportation and commercial hub in northern Nigeria.
He also expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for approving the project, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to supporting federal initiatives through complementary policies and infrastructure development.
