Earlier, the party sources from both NC and Cong had said that the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, will chair a meeting of the MLAs of both these coalition partners before the start of the budget session at Jammu. The second budget session of the J&K Assembly is scheduled to start from 2nd of February onwards at Jammu. The differences between both these coalition partners deepened further in the Rajya Sabha elections last year after the ruling NC did not give Congress the seat to its choosing as supporting partner. There are 41 MLAs of NC, Cong has 6, PDP has 04, CPI (M) has 1, AAP has 1, while seven independent MLAs are there in the 90 member strength of the J&K Assembly. The BJP being the main Opposition party has 29 MLAs in the J&K Assembly, the highest so far it has in the J&K Assembly.
