The University joined higher education institutions from across the north west at a Holocaust Memorial Day event, organised by Universities UK and Salford City Council. Professor Anthony Hollander, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Impact, attended the evening event held at Swinton Hall in Salford on Wednesday, 28 January. Holocaust Memorial Day is marked annually on 27 January – the anniversary of the liberation at Auschwitz. The evening included reflections from Alison Cooper, daughter of Holocaust survivor Judis Waxman (a Windermere child), who spoke about the importance of bridging generations – the theme for this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day. Professor Hollander joined University of Salford Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nic Beech and President and Vice-Chancellor of Manchester Metropolitan University, Professor Malcolm Press CBE at the event.
