SRINAGAR: More than 14,000 urban housing units have been completed and delivered to beneficiaries in Jammu and Kashmir over the last three years under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban (PMAY-U) and its revamped version PMAY-U 2.0, according to data tabled in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.
The information was provided by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) in a written reply to an unstarred question by MP Dayanidhi Maran.
As per the ministry’s data, Jammu and Kashmir saw 266 houses sanctioned in 2022-23, followed by 3,677 units in 2023-24 and 1,272 units in 2024-25.
The ministry clarified that PMAY-U and PMAY-U 2.0 are demand-driven schemes with no fixed housing targets.
The Jammu and Kashmir figures form part of this broader nationwide urban housing effort, the ministry said.
