The European Union has designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization. This decision follows Iran’s actions against demonstrators accused of causing significant unrest throughout the country, allegedly incited by a monarchist and encouraged by public calls from leaders in the United States and Israel in late December. Iranian officials have asserted that intelligence agencies from the United States and Israel played a direct role by offering financial support, training, and media backing to individuals identified as rioters and armed terrorists participating in street activities. The General Staff of the Armed Forces asserted that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has consistently been a legitimate and formidable institution, playing a leading role in the fight against U.S. state terrorism and what it described as the “dangerous” Israeli regime. The statement highlighted that thousands of members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have either been killed or injured in this initiative.
