The Senator representing Borno South, Ali Ndume, has described the newly signed tax laws as “fundamentally flawed,” alleging that the versions passed by the National Assembly were altered before being signed into law.
He questioned which version of the laws would be implemented, noting that multiple versions are currently in circulation.
If the version being enforced is not favourable, will people even recognise it as law?” Ndume queried.
The lawmaker expressed concern that acknowledged discrepancies in the tax laws have not been adequately addressed, adding that efforts to raise the issue were initially dismissed by some officials.
He further claimed that the versions of the tax laws passed by the National Assembly differ from those eventually signed into law by the President.
