The extreme cold has claimed the life of a woman in Annapolis after her body was found off of a hiking trail. City police said officers were called around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday to a hiking trail near the tennis courts at Truxton Park for a report of an unresponsive woman. An investigation indicates the woman may have slipped due to the icy conditions and it is believed she died because of exposure to the extreme cold. Police remind the public of the dangers of the extreme cold and the severe winter weather and encourage anyone who sees a person who may be struggling with the cold to call 911 immediately.
