CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. (WNYT) – The Shenendehowa Central School District said that ICE detained a family with school-aged children in the North Point apartment complex. The district said that its approach to interacting with ICE follows guidance from the governor, attorney general and New York State Education Department for safeguarding the rights of immigrant students. “Protocols are in place for school officials to interact with ICE or any other law enforcement official who attempts to engage with a student on school grounds,” the district said in an announcement to a parents. “We are committed to supporting our families and ensuring the safety and rights of our students while they are in our care at school.”This is a developing story.
