She said a desire for control is often one of the clearest signs that trust has fallen or the trust leap feels too high.
Her message to advisers was that introducing new solutions, tools or portfolio changes should be anchored in familiar language and relatable reference points, otherwise the trust leap can feel too large.
To help advisers diagnose trust breakdowns, Botsman outlined four traits that underpin trustworthiness, split across capability and character.
Botsman concluded that better outcomes depend on knowing when to operate in a risk mindset and when to shift into a trust mindset.
