Wreaths were laid at the Lerwick War Memorial as part of Holocaust Memorial Day commemorations. David Marsh led the service for Holocaust Memorial Day, as pupils from Bell’s Brae Primary School recited poems. The theme of the remebrance was “bridging generations”—to ensure the death of six million Jews during thr Second World War is not forgotten and never repeated. Mr Marsh said this was one of thousands of events taking place across the country to commemorate, educate and remember the impact of the Holocaust on humanity. “Holocaust Memorial Day presents an opportunity when people from all backgrounds come together to learn from the past and create a better future,” Mr Marsh said.
