It was located on the sidewalk in front of the Grand Opera House. We apologize, but this video has failed to load. In 1896 Frederick Ham Brisco opened a sporting goods store on the ground floor of the King Street front of the Grand Opera House. The Opera House dated from the mid-1870s and has been known by several names over the last 150 years including the Chatham Music Hall, Scane’s Opera House, the Grand Opera House, the Brisco Opera House, the Brisco Hotel (owned by the Brisco family) and the Edelstein Block. It still stands at 161 King St. W., minus two of its original five floors of height.
