The Yampa Valley Community Foundation will open this year’s scholarship application season on Feb. 1 with three new awards designed to broaden opportunities for local students pursuing college, trade or technical education, according to a statement released Tuesday. The new scholarships include the $3,000-$5,000 Liman Family Scholarship , for students who have faced systemic or social barriers but contributed meaningfully to their communities; the $2,000 Out & Proud Yampa Valley Scholarship , for LGBTQ+ students and allies promoting inclusion; and the $1,000-$4,000 Yampa Valley Electric Association Farming & Ranching Community Scholarship , which supports students from agricultural families in YVEA’s service area. The Liman Family Scholarship and the Out & Proud Yampa Valley Scholarship are renewable for up to four years. In 2025, the foundation administered 33 scholarship funds and distributed more than $600,000 in awards to regional students, including $246,000 to graduating seniors. “Our donors and partners make it possible for local students to follow their ambitions without being held back by financial barriers,” said Jenny Campbell, the organization’s scholarship program manager, in the statement.
