The body of a 25-year-old man was recovered by first responders off Bar Island in Acadia National Park on Thursday. The U.S. Coast Guard, Maine Warden Service, Maine Marine Patrol, Maine Association of Search and Rescue, and National Park Service rangers responded to the island but were unable to locate the person. The island, which is part of Acadia National Park, is about a half mile north of the Bar Harbor town pier. The man, who was not identified by the park service, was eventually found deceased late Thursday morning. The National Park Service is leading the investigation and said no further information would be available until at least 72 hours after the person’s next-of-kin are notified.
