A Brampton, Ont., man has been charged after Saskatchewan Highway Patrol officers stopped the trucker near Battle River, Sask., and discovered 9.1 million illicit cigarettes in his trailer. The stop happened on Jan. 20 around 12:40 a.m., Saskatchewan RCMP said in a release. Battleford RCMP and the RCMP Yorkton Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team were called in to investigate. They found 23 pallets of unstamped tobacco in the trailer, seized the items and arrested 41-year-old Harwinder Kahlon. The charges have not yet been proven in court.
