Thailand: EV sales jump 80% in 2025, lifting auto market

In 2024, electric car sales in Thailand stood at 66,732 units, representing a year-on-year decline of 9.29 per cent.
They contributed 11.85 per cent to total sales, which stood at 572,675 vehicles (excluding motorcycles) and were down 26.18 per cent year-on-year.
As production ramped up, Thailand also began exporting battery-electric cars and pickup trucks in 2025.
ICE passenger car sales fell 16.87 per cent to 128,893 units, while hybrid passenger car sales increased 24 per cent to 146,059 units.
Plug-in hybrid cars recorded 260.56 per cent year-on-year growth in Thailand in 2025, with 8,621 units sold.
