Central to the victory were the scoring contributions of Limerick pair Oisín O’Farrell (Askeaton-Ballysteen-Kilcornan, 2-3) and Shane O’Brien (Kilmallock, 0-8), along with Kilkenny’s Shane Walsh (1-5). Jamie Wall, aged just 33, is in year ten of his management of Mary I, with whom the Corkman has enjoyed outright victory on two occasions. Elsewhere, holders University of Limerick (UL) came through, 0-20 to 0-12, against UCC at Maguire’s Field. In the other quarters, University of Galway beat SETU Waterford and DCU accounted for MTU Cork.
