Traffic stop for failure to dim headlights lands 33-year-old in jail on drug charges

A passenger in a red 2019 Hyundai Sonata was arrested on illegal drug charges after the driver of the car allegedly failed to dim the headlights.
According to a report from the Douglas Police Department, around 9:30 p.m. on January 16, 2026, an officer stopped a Hyundai Sonata because the driver did not dim the headlights.
During the stop, the officer smelled marijuana inside the Sonata.
The backpack belonged to Anthony Simmons, 33, of Douglas, according to the report.
As a result, Simmons was arrested and charged with violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act and transported to the Coffee County Jail.
