For some, it’s becoming harder to hold onto hope as uncertainty, fear, and a deep sense of sadness take root. Research shows that hopelessness is closely linked to mental health challenges such as depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation. When one person is struggling with hopelessness, the entire family system can often feel the strain from increased stress and worry, emotional distance, and sometimes compounded financial stress. Prolonged stress and burnout can deepen this sense of hopelessness over time. While hopelessness can rob us of our ability to imagine change, hope reconnects us to possibility, agency, and the belief that brighter days are ahead.
