Jackson Civil Engineering has been appointed to build the long‑planned Oxpens River Bridge in Oxford, the city council has confirmed, clearing the way for construction to start in spring 2026. The contractor replaces Balfour Beatty, which walked away from the project in December 2025 after Oxford City Council said expected costs rose from about £10M to £14M, creating an estimated funding shortfall of £3.7M.
