Counties included in the watch are Hancock, Monroe, Jones, Baldwin, Washington, Taylor, Crawford, Bibb, Twiggs, Wilkinson, Johnson, Peach, Houston, Bleckley, Laurens, Treutlen, Dooly, Pulaski, Wilcox, Dodge, Telfair and Wheeler. Dangerous wind chills expectedThe National Weather Service warns that dangerously cold wind chills are possible, ranging from 10 degrees below zero in north Georgia to single digits above zero in parts of Middle Georgia. The extreme cold is expected to impact all of the area during the watch period. To prevent pipes from freezing, officials recommend wrapping exposed pipes, draining them or allowing faucets to drip slowly.
