The Environment Agency has issued flood alerts are in place for Rivers Otter, Sid, Axe, Clyst and the Exmouth area. The flood alert area covers Rivers Axe, Coly, Yarty, Umborne Brook and coastal streams from Branscombe to Axmouth. Along the River Clyst and Culm and their tributaries, the main areas of concern are Cullompton, Willand, Culmstock, Hemyock, Bradninch, Broadclyst and Clyst St Mary. More than 40 schools in the county were closed, including those in Axminster, Honiton, Seaton and Cullompton.
